ColorProf

Hello, dear students, let me quickly introduce myself. I am the ColorProf. I am a professor for law and politics in Germany. And I would like to color up your student life a bit with this website.

When I was a student myself, I mostly had pretty boring professors who held very boring lectures and not care much about the students. This was my motivation to do it better. When I started working as a university teacher in 2007 at a private university in Istanbul, I had the ambition to become that kind of university teacher I always dreamt to have during my studies. I got some inspiration from some really good teachers I had at school, and some from university. None of them was perfect, but some of them had some special skills and talents I adored. So, I had some good examples of teachers in mind. But I did not want to copy anybody. I wanted to do it my own way. Of course, this is not as easy as it might seem from the beginning. First of all, I had to get used to teach students on university level. It wasn’t that long ago since I had been a student myself. Therefore, the first focus was on being best possible prepared for any topic and any questions the students might ask. This included thinking about how to explain complicated stuff in a way which is easy to follow and understand by the students. So, I always tried to take the student perspective into account while preparing and holding my lectures. The more experienced I got with teaching courses at university, the more self-confident I became. This enabled me to try out more and more new and unorthodox things while teaching in the classroom which were not considered being standard. I often did something unexpected which spontaneously came into my mind and I noticed that the students liked it. So, by the time, I succeeded in developing my own style. This did not only include my teaching style, but also my dressing style.
